Interviews

Interviews are a chance for us to learn more about the specifics on your resume and an opportunity for you to explain why you would be a good fit in our organization. Rushees will sign up for a time slot and be interviewed by a panel of our brothers. This is an opportunity for rushees to share their experiences and passions with our brothers. Interviews will be held in-person in the GWBC. Attire for the interviews is business professional, however AKPsi acknowledges the classism and inherent discrimination that resonates from the term business professional, so we encourage rushees to wear whatever clothing they feel most professional in.

What We Look For

Conversations with RUSHEES

“The most interesting person in the room is the most interested in others.” – Ava Molin (‘27)

“Be a good listener and make the most of everything. You might be in a conversation where you're with someone who's academic or professional interests are completely different from you, but try and learn something from them.” – Avik Hedge (‘25)

“I appreciate people who are willing to take a step back in a group conversation. It shows they care about others and are willing to give other rushees the opportunity to speak.” – Ethan Pierce (‘27)

Resume & Cover Letter

“Be confident in yourself and your experiences. Don't let other people's accomplishments sway your self- perception.” – Gabi Janis (‘27)

“Be authentic, it’s obvious when people tell us what we think we want to hear. Don't be worried about a lack of professional experience just let your passion shine through.” – Andrew Worley (‘27)

“There is not one thing that all brothers in AKPsi have in common so, stay true to yourself and passions. You don't need to have your whole life and career figured out to succeed in rushing.” – Kendra Johnson (‘26)

Interview

“We were in your shoes once, so we know how stressful it can be. Show up 10 minutes before your interview so that you have time to take a breather.” – Juliana Abeid (‘28)

“Take your time before answering a question that you didn't expect. It may feel uncomfortable, but it allows you to give brothers a meaningful, thought-out response.” – Lillian Foster (‘28)

“When you prepare for your interview focus on what skills and aspects of your story are most important to you and emphasize them.” – Ayanna Hill (‘25)
